Research and Capacity Building Services

CHRP offers a wide range of services that can be tailored to your needs. These include:

Research services: This involves gathering and analysing information that will assist agencies to enhance their service response. Conducting research on a specific issue or on changes to your community is essential in the planning process. CHRP can provide many of these research services using the extensive resources that only a University can offer.

Capacity building: CHRP also offers a number of services designed to increase the capacity of your organisation or community to better respond to opportunities or to develop existing services.

Research and Capacity Building Services include:

  • Program evaluation
  • Literature searches and reviews
  • Community profiles
  • Developing appropriate research methodologies and tools
  • Data entry, collation and analysis
  • Feasibility studies/needs analysis
  • Analysis and evaluation of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Service mapping
  • Spatial mapping (including Geographical Information Services – GIS)
  • Social impact studies
  • Community health planning & health surveys
  • Community and organisational surveys
  • Evidenced-based best practice – Reviewing state, national and international best practice and recommending a model that best suits your aims and that best reflects the service your organisation is striving to deliver
  • Strategic planning
  • Project development
  • Organisational review
  • Supporting the transfer of research knowledge to policy, programs and practice
  • Building workforce capacity to undertake research and evaluation
  • Tenders and Grants: providing training for staff in developing tender response and grant proposals; identify tender opportunities; or you can contract our service to develop grant proposals or tender response

How is our work funded?

There are several ways.

  1. You can contract or commission CHRP to do work on a fee-for-service basis. We can also provide advice and support to plan and design a project, or work in collaboration with your staff.
  2. We can jointly submit an application for project funding; if successful, CHRP will undertake the research/evaluation.
  3. We can jointly submit a grant to undertake research that is a priority for you.
  4. We can develop a longer-term research program to which we both contribute resources and leverage funding.
  5. We can consider whether postgraduate students could undertake the research.
  6. CHRP also has a genuine commitment to its community service responsibilities. As such we encourage organizations and communities with little or no capacity to pay to contact the centre and discuss options for ensuring projects/research are realized.
